We are now a Certified B Corp! After a year of hard work and development, Y.O.U Underwear is now a B Corp. In fact, as of December 2021, we're the highest scoring B Corp in the UK, and the top fashion brand in the world!

This proves, and furthers, our commitment to being a business who puts purpose over profit. We're proof that businesses can be a means for good.

Thank YOU for all your support, and for helping us to change the world, one pair of pants at a time.

What does 'B Corp' mean?

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. We went through a rigorous process that took around a year to complete our certification. It requires showing lots of evidence and actually doing the things you say you do!

We're now part of a community of 4,200 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, is comprised of over 500 companies!

We're thrilled to have been certified with a score of 160.5. Here's what that means...

About Our Score

As mentioned above, our score is 160.5. To be certified as a B Corp, you need to achieve a score of 80! This means that we've achieved a score of more than double the requirement - and puts us at the top of the UK B Corp list! We're also the highest scoring fashion brand globally, so you can put your trust in our sustainable mission and creds.

We wanted to become a B Corp to show that purpose, people and planet mean more to us than profit. With giving back and sustainability at the heart of what we do, we're so pleased to have our work backed up by something as respected as a B Corp Certification. Our CEO Sarah, says:

"I am absolutely thrilled that Y.O.U underwear has become a certified B Corp! I set the business up 3 years ago with sustainability and impact at the heart of it, and to have received this accreditation is a huge achievement that I’m very proud of.

It’s a challenging process and has taken us nearly 18 months to get to this point as the B Corp assessment covers every aspect of the business, but to come out of that with such a high score validates what we’re doing, as well as some of the tough decisions we’ve made over the past couple of years.

For us, social and environmental impact have always been as central to our operations as financial sustainability, so to end up as the highest scoring company in the UK really reinforces our view that you can combine purpose and profit.

This is definitely one of the biggest achievements for us as a business and really adds credibility to everything we’re trying to do to have a positive social and environmental impact in the world.

Becoming a B Corp is a huge milestone for us and really helps strengthen our mission to show that business – and fashion – can be a force for good. I hope that having a fashion business as the highest scoring B Corp in the UK will demonstrate what can be achieved and hopefully encourage some of the fast fashion brands to focus a bit more on sustainability too.

Our work isn't done

Whilst we are, obviously, thrilled with our score and certification - we know our work isn't done. We promise to strive to make our underwear, packaging and business more sustainable and ethical - year on year. We have a lot of exciting ideas and projects in the works for 2022, and we hope that you'll support us on our sustainable journey.

Here's to making fashion more accessible, ethical and planet-friendly!
