A Magical Weekend at Camp VC: Come Behind the Scenes with Self Love Revolution

When was the last time last time you tried your hand at archery? Or kayaked over an aqueduct? Or even learnt metal soldering?

At Camp VC, around 1,000 women threw themselves into new experiences with a huge range of classes, workshops, sessions, and activities on offer.

Nestled in a quiet valley in the Welsh countryside was a haven of female and non-binary focused fun and excitement. Amongst the plethora of tents on site was Susie the Self Love Revolution bus, parked up in all her glory.

The Self Love team were on site to offer photo shoots, shopping, dress up, and all round confidence boosts. Photographer Sassy invited people onto the bus where they were guided through different poses wearing either Y.O.U Underwear or items picked out from Lou's wardrobe.

Setting Up

Sarah and Holly from Team Y.O.U Underwear arrived on site on Thursday evening and were greeted by Susie the bus and Lou dancing around in her colourful underwear!

We set up our tent then had some dinner and talked over our plan for the next day. After that we clambered on top of the bus to watch the beautiful sunset over the hill with a glass of wine in hand.

The next morning, as more staff and crew started arriving on site, we set up our gazebos and stalls with Lou's amazing vintage wardrobe, Jo of Curious Coco's reworked dresses and sparkly designs, as well as some organic cotton underwear and pyjamas of course! After a quick tidy up of the bus, we welcomed our first model for her photoshoot!

Lights, Camera, Action!

The photoshoots got underway and we had a brilliant time welcoming incredible women onto the bus. Sassy guided them through the different photos, helping everyone to find their inner empowered model and hit all the poses! While some people felt nervous at the beginning, it was so inspiring to see the way everyone challenged themselves and were able to find joy and confidence on set.

We spent the next three days running around between slots and welcoming new faces onto the bus. Sarah and Holly were popping back and forth between Susie and the PANTry to make sure we had the right stock for all the models.

In between shooting we managed to sneak in a few peeks at some talks and activities. We popped into Laura's very special Self Worth, Mind Set, and Healing talk all about her journey to accepting herself and learning to put herself first. We absolutely loved that she decided to do the talk in her undies too!

Camp VC Cabaret!

After wrapping up shooting on Saturday evening and having a quick stop for a bite to eat, we all chose a bedazzled item out of Lou's wardrobe and headed out to that evening's entertainment. We were in for a treat as a full circus line up was in store, from fire dancing to burlesque, followed by a good old boogie led by party duo Heartbreakers Club.

We finished off on Sunday afternoon with the last few models who left us on an absolute high with their energy and confidence. A special shoutout to Rachel who ran around the camp with a matching Red Mara set and Lou's pink robe!

Exhausted but with full hearts, we packed everything up and headed back home.

It was certainly a weekend to remember and we felt so inspired by what each individual person brought to their shoot and how they interpreted the styling and poses. A huge thank you to everyone who had their picture taken as well as everyone who stopped by to say hello! We can't wait to get the photos back and hope you all love them.

We've had bit of time to unpack but we're not resting for long! On the 11th of August we're setting off for Lou's very own Self Love Revolution Camp where she will be bringing all her self love knowledge and confidence boosting activities alongside an amazing line up of speakers and workshop leaders.
