There is nothing trendier than sustainable, zero-waste fashion. This year's Met Gala was a testament to this, with Emma Watson stealing the show in a stunning gown made from different fabrics that were woven from yarns made entirely from recycled plastic bottles!
"Plastic is one of the biggest pollutants on the planet," Emma Watson posted on her Facebook page. "Being able to repurpose this waste and incorporate it into my gown for the Met Gala proves the power that creativity, technology and fashion can have by working together."
We could not agree more, Emma, which is why we collaborated with Yago Eco to create our very own carbon neutral jewellery that is both sustainable and stylish. Yago Eco have repurposed our deep green postal bags into a unique, zero waste jewellery collection. The range includes circle stud earrings, teardrop dangle earrings, pendant necklaces and even key rings - all available to purchase in our Oxford Covered Market store and online!

At Y.O.U Underwear we believe that every person is unique and therefore deserves 'one-off creations as special as they are', so this is a perfect partnership! The jewellery making process.
The first step in creating our ethical sustainable jewellery range is cleaning and drying the Y.O.U postal bags. This ensures that the final product has no visible impurities.
Next, the bags are cut into small pieces to create unique and attractive colour combinations.
Thirdly, the bags are placed under heat to transform the plastic into liquid form - I am told that this process is similar to that of melting cheese on a pizza!
Once this transformation process is completed and thick sheets of raw material are produced, a machine is used to cut out the 'impossible to reproduce' pieces. All the jewellery pieces are then sanded and polished by hand, and are finished with Sterling Silver or gold-plated Sterling Silver clasps, depending on the unique colour combinations in the piece of jewellery itself. This ensures they are of the highest quality, and the whole piece is displayed in a beautiful box to finish it off.
