Y.O.U Behind the Scenes: A Summertime Photoshoot
How do we create the fabulous images that you see across our social media platforms and websites? This blog provides an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into how we bring our organic cotton loungewear to life through our photoshoots!

Why this shoot? We wanted to capture images that showcase some of our newer products in a different light. We wanted to show off how our new undershorts make the perfect summer companion to dresses and skirts, and how our breathable organic cotton vests can be styled into fun outfits for the warmer months. Having identified our goal, we started working out the logistics for a mini-shoot where we could capture some of these images.

Careful planning brought the initial idea to life. Firstly, we needed to find some models. To keep things simple, and because this was a casual, swiftly-planned shoot, two of our Y.O.U team members took the leap and volunteered to have a go in front of the camera. Keeping things close to home, the wonderful photographer for this shoot was our very own Haley! When she’s not being divine in our shop, keeping things beautiful and helping customers, you can find Haley studying for her Photography PHD. We are so grateful that she could bring her expertise to the table - how lucky are we!?

After fixing a date and time, we had to pick the perfect location. Our vision for the photoshoot was to capture relaxed, summer-time vibes. Think picnics, walks, and coffees in the sun. We opted for a central location in Jericho. Wellington Square seemed the perfect choice to capture greenery, and suited the organic, natural feel of our underwear and loungewear. Round the corner is Little Clarendon St, whose quirky, independent spirit matched the laid-back, summer feeling we wanted to capture.

The team pulled together a product and shot list, and a timeline for the morning, and we were ready to go!
At 10am, we all met at Wellington Square. Rain battering the windows during the night before had made for an uneasy sleep, as we weren’t sure that grey skies and soaking models would quite match our vision! Luckily, we were blessed with sunny spells on the day, despite the forecast.

The shoot was a success! Haley was incredible at ensuring the models felt comfortable, using props and prompts to keep them relaxed. Our Founder, Sarah, was on hand making sure things ran smoothly as always, and captured some great behind-the-scenes content.
We used picnic blankets, baskets, books and cards to give the images a natural, every-day feel.

We closed things off with a celebratory coffee at Common Ground, feeling chuffed with a fun morning’s work, before heading off to co-working space to catch up on some work.
Haley will now work her magic on the photos to get them ready, while staying true to our values: no editing or airbrushing of bodies. Just natural, real human beings.
